We are very pleased to announce that two talented gentlemen
have volunteered their services to the
Miss Deal locate/recover expedition!
Billy Bergeron, a Senior Project Manager in the Oil/Gas
Marine industry, has assisted with two remarkable underwater recoveries, both
of which contained human remains. In
each instance his patented inventions supported the safe recovery of the lost
vessels and their precious cargo in a careful, deferential manner. The ships involved were the Confederate
submarine H. L. Hunley, lost in 1864 with all eight crewmembers, and the
Japanese trawler Ehime Maru, which
went down in 2001 with nine still aboard.
Ralph Wilbanks, an Underwater Archaeologist with an
impressive background, has participated in hundreds of underwater archaeological
projects since 1975. Specializing in
many types of surveying equipment and processes, including but hardly limited
to Side Scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profilers, Proton Precession and Cesium
Magnetometers, fathometers, remote operated vehicles, and many others, Mr.
Wilbanks’ surveying accomplishments include many highly interesting underwater
aircraft finds.
